Abstract: Merleau-Ponty’s words appropriately capture the scope of the current digital art and artificial intelligence (AI) collaborative project titled ‘Make Some Noise’ – a project that connects human perception with machine programming. The project discussed here brings the subjectivity of human senses and scientific objectivity together, as one feeds and reconfigures the other with the aim of establishing a liminal space that belongs to both of them and to none. Departing from a combined aesthetic and eco-critical standpoint, ‘Make Some Noise’ aims to translate an environmental concern into an artefact with the help of AI algorithms. Before delving deeper into the project, we have to first investigate the context that provoked this critical project, which is central to the ensuing environmental commentary.
