| Abstract: | The year of publication and bibliographic reference of Scalaria crassicostata has often been quoted incorrectly. It is herein concluded that the name was published in DESHAYES’ Traité élémentaire de conchyliologie avec les applications de cette science à la Géologie, and that the correct year is 1850. It is also noted that assumed dates of publication of other species described by DESHAYES in the Traité élémentaire should be checked against the publication dates given by COX (1942). |
