Abstract: Manoel Theatre and the Ministry of Labour, Culture and Welfare present the programme for two different ballet programmes performed by the Alexander Roy London Ballet Theatre. The first programme featured a ballet performance based on Shakespeare's play "A Midsummer Night's Dream", which featured music composed by Gioacchino Rossini, and was choreographed by Alexander Roy. The second programme featured ballet performances of "Coppélia" (Acts 1 and 2), "Divertissement from the Nutcracker suite", "Adagio" (composed by Albinoni), "Charades" (composed by Lord Berners), and "Soiree Musicale" (featuring music by Rossini). The first ballet programme was held from the 26th till the 29th of October, whilst the second ballet programme was held on the 30th and the 31st of October, 1981. The performances were held as part of the International Music Festival 1981, at the Manoel Theatre, in Valletta.
Description: Two copies of programme included, one with performer's signatures and the other without. Both programmes include list of cast in "A Midsummer Night's Dream", synopsis of scenes of "A Midsummer Night's Dream", synopsis with photo of ballet "A Midsummer Night's Dream", synopsis of ballet "Coppélia", list of cast of "Coppélia", mention of cast for "Divertissement from the Nutcracker suite", descriptive notes and lists of casts for ballet interpretations of "Adagio" and "Charades", photo from performance of "Coppélia", list of cast for "Soiree Musicale", list of crew from Manoel Theatre, and note on The Alexander Roy London Ballet Theatre including note on its director Alexander Roy, list of company members and some international press comments on it.
