Abstract: Manoel Theatre and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Culture, in association with Kursaal Company Limited and Central Cigarette Company Limited, present the programme for an operatic concert, conducted by Mro. Joseph Sammut, led by George Spiteri, and performed by the Manoel Theatre Orchestra. The concert starred international artists Cecilia Gasdia (soprano), Stefka Mineva (mezzo soprano), Zdravko Gadjev (tenor), and Stoyan Popov (baritone). The concert featured the musical (operatic) works of Verdi, Leoncavallo, Donizetti, Puccini, Giordano, and Mascagni. The performance was held on the occasion of the Malta International Arts Festival 1982, on the 7th of August, 1982, at St. Paul's Square, in Mdina.
Description: Programme includes essay on the history of the Manoel Theatre, essay on the history and development of Mdina including information about its landmarks written by Michael Ellul, list of featured music including composers and their operas, photos of conductor Mro. Joseph Sammut and singers Cecilia Gasdia, Stefka Mineva, Zdravko Gadjev and Stoyan Popov, map of Mdina, note on Manoel theatre's founder Grand Master Antonio Manoel De Vilhena, and picture of Manoel theatre's booking plan.
