Ta' Fuqha Senduqha: an intimate look at an uncomfortable reality

Abstract

Based on authentic experiences of poverty in Malta, "Ta' Fuqha Senduqha," showcased at Spazju Kreattiv from October 11 to 15, 2023, is an original play written in Maltese by Andre Mangion and directed by Toni Attard. The plot centers around Rita, a young police officer who has recently become pregnant, as she confronts the trials of life in increasingly challenging situations. Mangion's dedication to authenticity is apparent in his script. The narrative unfolds in a manner that feels both genuine and relatable, revealing that material hardship is not simply a product of personal shortcomings, but often stems from circumstances initiated at birth—a chance occurrence.
