Abstract: Travelling is a vital part of modern life with the freedom to move over short and long distances. However, such a positive aspect is closely associated with the present trend of increases in transport volume. One significant contributor to such an increase is the lack of effective planning in the public transportation field. Such an issue can be addressed through the implementation of accurate mathematical models describing passenger assignment on the public transportation network. Hence the objective in this study is the implementation of a statistical based method that estimates the passenger assignments by merging the OD data with any passenger count data available.
