Abstract: This essay is born out of my frustration, my most indignant orthographic snorts, at the word ‘sightseeing’. Because we spell it wrong. We are looking at a place. A spatial object at a geographical point. So it should be ‘site’, see? ‘Siteseeing’. Commonly misspelled as ‘sightseeing’. I close my eyes and pinch the uprising between them. ‘Siteseeing’. Also the wrong spelling. We are looking at some place so marvellous it is the aim of sight, the default of sight, the sight. And so ‘sightseeing’, obviously. Seeing sight manifest. Seeing something made visible because others have seen it, are seeing it, will see it.
