The wealth management industry in Malta : services offered by banks and other financial providers

Abstract

This dissertation focuses on the current local wealth management industry by surveying the current local services on offer. In addition, it includes a profound analysis of the main factors affecting the industry such as client dynamics and the external impact of regulations. These changes result in clients changing their behaviour especially their risk tolerance and seeking more financial advice. Other elements such as competition and its effect on pricing and business models are also reviewed together with new trends such as the impact of technology. A brief review is also given of the rise of Singapore this financial sector by focusing on trends such as client dynamics, tax and transparency. This study analyses and compares the local wealth management scenario to other cases as outlined in the literature review. This was done through interviews with professionals who provided insight on the local context especially relating to the provision of services, client dynamics, the effects of regulation and recent trends.
