Abstract: This research study sets out to understand the growth of the gaming industry in Malta, during these past 12 years. It also discusses Business and IT related topics such as business growth, taxation benefits, laws and regulations, start-ups, gaming addiction, anti-money laundry and the IT infrastructure of the gaming industry. This study also gives an outlook on how Malta, has dealt so far with the European Union when dealing with the gaming industry. To get a clear picture of the primary data, a selection of key-people from different companies had been selected for an interview. The interview had a set of ten questions that were related to the research study. The findings were very accurate to the data collected in the literature review. Some new findings show the success of the gaming industry in Malta. The findings also show that the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) is constantly growing in staff, due to the fact that they need more employees working for them. The findings of the primary data also suggest that Malta needs to remain competitive and the MGA is doing this by preparing to over-haul its regulations. This study has shown that Malta is still very competitive at a European Union (EU) level, even though new directives had been introduced in the recent years such, as the 4th AML (Anti-Money Laundry) and VAT 2015. So the conclusions to this research study is that Malta is a perfect gaming hub for any operator. The gaming industry has grown and is set to grow more in the coming years. Thanks to technological advances in the IT industry, new opportunities arise constantly. The important implications of this success does not mean that the gaming industry is not a risky one. It is important that the gaming industry in Malta remains competitive, not only at an EU level, but globally. It is vital that the MGA keeps on updating its regulations hand in hand with new directives and technological advances, to maximise the gaming growth in Malta to its fullest potential in the next ten years.
