Abstract: Warfarin is now the most widely used long term oral anticoagulant. Due to the narrow therapeutic index and the complexity associated with warfarin therapy, a sound knowledge of the drug is required. This review is aimed at providing some basic concepts on warfarin in use and takes on a UK perspective.
