Abstract: | This dissertation seeks to form a creative model of teaching in order to develop a child-centred learning paradigm for the Cecchetti ballet syllabus. The contextual chapters look at Enrico Cecchetti in a historical context and reveal how the method has arrived where it is today, examine theories posited by John Dewey, Jerome Bruner and Elliot Eisner as well as educational dance models suggested by Rudolf Laban and Jacqueline Smith-Autard. This is followed by a review of action research wherein an action research model has been developed. The analytical section is based on an action research project that includes data analysis. The data collected comes from my own observations and questionnaires as well as student questionnaires. |
