dc.description.abstractThis dissertation study explored the challenges and confrontations encountered by young dyslexic adults in their working environment. It also addresses decisions and effects of disclosure of one’s own challenges. This study employed a Qualitative Research Methodology, namely Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis, in order to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges that young adults with dyslexia encounter in the workplace. Data were collected using individual audio-recorded interviews with five young adults with dyslexia who are presently employed. Findings were classified into seven master themes: Self-esteem, Challenges encountered, Disclosure, Support Mechanisms, from low Self-esteem to Self-efficacy, Selfadjustment, and Resilience. Each master theme was divided into sub-themes, with total of 15 sub-themes. These themes and participants’ views were discussed in light of the literature findings presented in the first chapter. Results dictate that the negative experiences affect motivation and resilience for further success. Recommendations elicited from the data are included.en_GB
