Abstract: | There were several cabinet changes in 2012, inspired less by the imperatives of administrative efficiency than by the brewing dissent within the ranks of the Nationalist Party (PN) Government. This dissent – by now a chronic ailment of the government and revolving round the antagonism between frustrated backbenchers and cabinet ministers – dominated national politics all the more because the administration was running out of time before the next elections, which were due in 2013. No fewer than three cabinet reshuffles took place during the year. |
