The Alternative’ : a short documentary exploring the diffusion of identifiers across sub-cultures within the alternative Maltese music scene

Abstract

This dissertation focuses on the use of the documentary filmmaking genre as a way to explore and accentuate the characteristics and main identifiers of the Maltese alternative music scene. Through the aid of multimedia elements it becomes easier to convey discoveries of the chosen subject with factors of artistic expression. The short documentary project aims to convey the diffusion of strong identifiers of the local alternative music scene and the morphing of new subcultures through natural merging of different sub-divisions of the subculture.
