Mobile network operators are faced with an ever-increasing demand for throughput, as customer numbers increase and new broadband services are deployed. On the other hand, subscribers are constantly requesting improved data rates for fast data access in addition to uninterrupted mobile connections. These demands are especially apparent in multimedia services. One such service that is gaining importance is the transmission of three-dimensional (3D) video content. This paper explores the suitability of providing multi-view video transmission over cellular networks. The Long Term Evolution (LTE) network architecture is used in this study, providing an all-Internet Protocol (IP) paradigm for the transmission of High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) encoded multi-view videos, which is consistent with the Next Generation Network (NGN) concept. Results show the deployment of 3D video services over LTE networks is feasible with adequate Quality of Service (QoS) if the number of users accessing the service within a cell is limited.en_GB
