This thesis is about the relationship between the high seas regime and the EEZ. It examines the application of Articles 86 and 87 of UNCLOS (on the high seas) in the EEZ by analysing Part V of UNCLOS (on the EEZ), particularly its Articles 56 and 58. This thesis also examines the high seas freedom of navigation and the extent to which it is applicable in the EEZ. The author analyses the high seas freedom of overflight and its relevance in the EEZ. This thesis also deals with the high seas freedom to lay submarine cables and pipelines and its applicability in the EEZ. The sovereign rights that States enjoy in the EEZ may affect the high seas freedoms in the EEZ. This thesis evaluates the limitations that exist on the freedoms of the high seas in the EEZ.en_GB
