Abstract: | In an attempt to bridge the gaps between storytelling, informal education and the exhibition space, this work brings four narratives together, overlapping, crossing and balancing in an investigation of Storytelling across different platforms. Carried through drawing, painting, geometric abstract art and a palimpsest of animated charcoal illustrations, the storytelling develops across media, from an artist book to a simple audio-visual graphical animation with basic digital interventions. Presented in a gallery environment to be interpreted and distributed by the spectator (Duchamp, 1957), it aims to create a Butterfly Effect that ripples across according to its own fractal development (Lorenz, 1993). The concept has also been reduced to its barest essential elements and translated into pictographs for further studies in the hope of being adopted for cultural recreational and informal educational purposes, in the context of PO Provocation - a Lateral Thinking Tool, PO: Beyond Yes and No by Edward DeBono, for teachers to create entry into a topic in the classroom. By means of this interdisciplinary art project, the work is intended to contribute to the Research Report No. 1. (Abela et al, 2013) to create entry points on Social and Emotional Learning, using Transmedia storytelling in the classroom. Situated in Fine Art, the body of work includes the applied book art; the Illustrations; the graphical animation and the audio visual narrative. |
