Abstract: | This research project analyses the various terrorism threats that are currently being faced by Schengen Member States. Since the 9/11 attacks, various international legal measures were implemented to fight against terrorism. EU Counter-Terrorism measures are evaluated, keeping in mind the freedom of movement and also fundamental rights. Due to the increased threats, Commission implemented various amendments to current legislation and there are also pending proposals in order to increase security, justice and freedom for all. The aim of this research project is to get a better picture of the seriousness of such terrorism threats, current legislation to combat against terrorism and also proposals to diminish such a problem. Cooperation between various agencies and law enforcement officers is required to suppress such an international phenomenon. |
