Abstract: This paper explores the extent to which older persons living in the Northern and Southern Harbour regions in Malta are prone to processes and conditions of social exclusion. In this study, seven dimensions of social exclusion were constructed - namely, social relationships, cultural/leisure activities, civic activities, basic services, neighbourhood, financial products, material goods. Research data demonstrate clearly that older persons face and experience social exclusion - ranging from participation in civic society to access to services and amenities. A significant percentage also experiences multiple risks of social exclusion. This paper also puts forward policy proposals to counter social exclusion experiences amongt older persons.
