Abstract: | This chapter offers an assessment of Malta's perspective on Mediterranean security following the end of the Cold War. This will include an examination of the security implications that are attached to Malta's application to become a full member of the European Union. A review of Malta's viewpoint regarding trans-Mediterranean security initiatives in the 1990s follows. In the analysis, an attempt is made to determine the extent to which Malta's post-Cold War foreign policy objectives are complementary to the concept of establishing a trans-Mediterranean security forum. |
