Abstract: | This article focuses on school-based development. It evolves the theme that schools can best be improved by exploring the dynamics of schooling, and by building on the uniqueness and diversity of teachers as professionals. School improvement is a generic term referring to those development efforts that focus on the school as the major unit of change in the educational system. As such, school improvement encompasses quite a number of topics including the professional development of teachers, the implementation of innovations, appraising teachers, and self-evaluation. |
