dc.description.abstract | This dissertation sets out to design and develop a teaching and learning resource pack for Form 1 and Form 2 Level 7.1 – 8.1 students, in connection with the ‘Number’ strand of the Mathematics Syllabus. It features a wide spectrum of activities including board games, outdoor games, online games, problem solving, practical tasks, videos and Interactive Whiteboard flipcharts. These were designed for the VAK learning style with particular attention to the different phases of instruction. Appropriate software packages were used when designing and developing this resource pack. Microsoft Publisher was used to produce students’ worksheets and teachers’ lesson notes. Additional resources were also developed using the same software. Microsoft Powerpoint and Microsoft Excel were used for additional activities to be carried out during the lesson. Interactive Whiteboard flipcharts were produced using the Starboard Software. The pack was evaluated by a sample of teachers including the Church Schools’ Mathematics Subject Coordinator and a British Mathematics consultant. A sample of students have also participated in the evaluation of the pack. An indepth analysis has been made to the results obtained from the evaluation process. It was then utilised to further improve the resource pack. The dissertation ends with a discussion on the main conclusions of this research study and suggestion proposals for further studies to be put forward. | en_GB |
