Abstract: | In 1662 four priests from Senglea founded the Congregation of the Oratorians of St. Philip Neri. They were given the use of a small house together with the oratory and the nearby church of Marija tal-Portu Salv which later on became known as the Church of St. Philip. In 16701 the priests carried out structural alter- ations in these buildings. Their suc- cessors rebuilt and enlarged them in 1744. |
