This paper describes some of the salient performance management systems practised in two medium sized organisations in Malta. The emphasis shall be on HR practice and there shall be an attempt to discuss the systems in terms of differences and possible similarities. The analysis and ensuing discussion are based on the author's experience and observations made whilst working within the Human Resources Departments of both organisations. The comments made during these comparisons shall be seen in the light of local context and culture, as observed by a Maltese HR practitioner.en_GB
