dc.description.abstract | The dissertation is dedicated to analyse the implementation of the European Commission Directive 2009/28/EC on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources in the light of European Competition Law and Policy. The work focuses on the implementation of Directive 2009/28/EC in small Member States, namely Malta and Lithuania, providing a comparative analysis of the implementation of the relative Directive in these countries, while focusing on the promotion of the renewable energy for electricity in the named Member States. The particular attention is given to the problems both Member States came across while transposing the Directives` measures and what influence such a transposition had on the Competition Law in the latter Member States. The work takes a look at the Treaty on Functioning of the European Union articles 101, 102, 107 and their importance in the promotion of the Directive 2009/28/EC and the renewable energy sources. Lastly, the author of the work suggests that in order to reach for the sustainable development goal the Competition Policy and the Renewable Energy Policy should go line in line and complement rather than contravening each other. | en_GB |
