Abstract: | In the liturgy of the first three centuries of the Christian era we will certainly not find any clear traces of a cultus of the Blessed Virgin Mary : the devotion of the early Christians was wholly centered in Christ, and only in the second century do we find unmistakable examples of the venerations of saints. |
