Abstract: | The term "Information Technology" (now generally abbreviated to IT) is a comparatively recent addition to the English language. It has been defined in many different ways. The most suitable definition for our purposes is: "Information Technology is concerned with systems for the creation, acquisition, processing, storage, retrieval, selection, transformation, dissemination and use of vocal, pictorial, textual and numerical information. Current systems typically utilize a microelectronics- based combination of computing and telecommunications." |
