Abstract: The aim of this study was to identify what benefits were achieved by youth who were living in Residential Care and moved into Headstart Project. The study sought to identify the impact that the Headstart Project had on these youth. This study involved the selection of a sample of young people to whom narrative interviews were administered. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with three participants who successfully completely the 2 and half years of this Project. The analysis of the interviews revealed three main themes: concern for future - leaving residential care, commitment, and most of all the success of the Project itself. The findings were clear enough for all the participants. Although their main concern was how they will cope socially and financially once they leave Residential Care, the commitment shown during the two and a half years from their part and the help granted to them, resulted in finishing successfully the Headstart Project. The study provided an insight into the experience of these participants in participating in a Pilot Project funded by the EU. As a result I could not compare results with other research studies, but when the Housing Authority applied to get EU funding in order to extend this project to more young people leaving care, the application was granted due to its huge success.
