Abstract: Existentialism has almost become the philosophy of the day in noncatholic circles; and several catholic writers endeavour to give it an orthodox interpretation. It is an exaggerated reaction against the excessively abstract philosophy of Hegel. S. Kierkegaard (1813-1855), a Dane, who was its founder gave it a religious but lutheran tone.
