This dissertation is in the form of a practical project; the creation of a fashion magazine, targeted at Maltese females, aged 18 to 24. The magazine is designed to the specifications suggested by research carried out. The literature review contributes to the understanding of various design concepts, while the interviews with fashion professionals further the understanding of the Maltese fashion market. Focus groups are carried out with participants from the target market to assess the design and content appeal. The research carried out indicates that even though Malta does not have an established fashion magazine, the need for one is there. It appears that the local market wants to read fashion and culture content that has a local edge. “ARC” magazine is created with this in mind. It seeks to include Malta in the fashion world reflecting this in the design and content. The design of the magazine is also directed by the opinions of both the interviewees and the focus groups. It became apparent that the publication needs to be highly visual, with a heavy use of designed white space. Thick, matte paper and a gloss cover are preferred, both intended to add a level of luxury to it.en_GB
