Abstract: | The aim of this dissertation is to examine the effects of the Erasmus Programme on Maltese participants, in particular to family ties, romantic relationships and friendships. This study will focus on whether the Erasmus Programme is a life changing experience for Maltese participants and if so whether it is a positive and/or negative way. The research used to conduct this study is based upon the Social Exchange Theory. Social Capital is also briefly discussed in relation to the Erasmus Programme. The study is conducted using qualitative research methods in the form of interviews. These were conducted in order to show on a personal level how the Erasmus experience affected the Maltese participants. |
