Audio-visual resources in contemporary libraries and archives

Abstract

In recent years, a number of different studies have been performed, both on national and international levels, about audio-visual resources and their various uses within the context of the information professions. However, the bulk of these different research projects have focused on the physical mediums on which these audio-visual resources are produced and subsequent consolidation of them, such as preservation, conservation, cataloguing. The purpose of this dissertation is to complement these studies by pinpointing how the users of these same audiovisual resources are being serviced and what can be done in order to further consolidate them.
