Abstract: Previous studies have shown that stimulation of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) enhances the expression and secretion of amyloid precursor protein (APP) in various cell lines. Using complementary in vivo and in vitro experiments, this study investigated the extent to which nicotine administration influences APP levels and processing in the rat brain.
