Title: Watching myself in your mirror : female adolescents' perspectives about body image

Abstract: The study aims at finding out different attitudes of 150 female students aged between 16-18 years about girls' body image. The study focuses on their perspectives towards physical appearance and body care. The informants' views on dieting, tattooing and cosmetic surgery are also examined through a questionnaire. This data is further enriched by 3 interviews with 2 beauty consultants and a cosmetic surgeon. This dissertation aims at contributing towards a better understanding of adolescent students' needs regarding self- image and the caring self. It also draws a number of recommendations for the subject of PSD in post secondary schools.
