Issue Date: 2017
Abstract: This research investigates the practicing experience of local Polo players from a psychological perspective. A qualitative approach was deemed most appropriate to gather the necessary information. Semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted with five active playing members of the Malta Polo Club. The common themes were extracted by means of a Thematic Analysis. The resulting themes outline the unconscious similarities and differences that the players share in terms of sporting motivations and attributions to winning and losing, the way Polo blends into one’s lifestyle and becomes an important factor of a person’s identity.
