Abstract: Accurate placement of the acetabular component during total hip replacement (THR) may reduce the risk of subsequent dislocation. Alignment jigs are helpful but depend on the correct orientation to the bony pelvis. A jig (called a 'Goalpost' because of its shape) has been reported to assess intraoperative pelvic alignment, attempting to improve the accuracy of socket placement.
