Abstract: The much awaited exhibition of Edward Caruana Dingli’s portraits, views and folkloristic scenes – 250 paintings gathered from private and public collections. Edward Caruana Dingli (1876-1950) had what it took to make him a popular society portraitist. He is certainly one of the best known, and perhaps even the most gifted. Those who sat for him, perhaps because they engaged with the man who painted them, have gone on to engage with those who observe them, three-quarters of a century later, so that if they walked into the room, you would recognise them immediately.
