Abstract: One hundred and thirty-six fresh temporal bones from sixty-eight cases of accidental death which came to autopsy in Malta were dissected and colour-photographed through an operating microscope. Of the wealth of information derived therefrom only a few fragments are given in this short paper, and these have been grouped under the following headings: A. Variations in normal bony anatomy, B. The interossicular mucosal band, and C. Findings in asphyxia from drowning.
