dc.description.abstract | Delinquency today, is a complex issue, more so the antisocial behaviour of, in our case, Maltese youths. This thesis will highlight the issues of criminal behaviour among youths in Malta. I will analyse the programmes, methodology and approach that the Maltese authorities use to address delinquency. This study intends to see into the rehabilitation processes regarding antisocial behaviour among youths. We will see if youths’ delinquent behaviour in Malta correlates with those in custody and/or those offered rehabilitation programmes. This study will analyse the principal causes for crime among youths and perhaps some ideas on how to address these situations. A quantitative analysis was carried out to collect the information for this thesis, studying the delinquent and antisocial behaviour among youths in Malta, Europe and the US. Only youths who were involved in crime under the age of sixteen were included in this study. Statistics were collected from such entities as the Corradino Correctional Facility and ESPAD. Furthermore, we analyse how the Juvenile Justice System operates in Malta. Lastly this study analyses various methods utilised by European and American authorities to address youth delinquency. This study is going to compare statistics from Malta, Europe and the US, whilst analysing the methods by which Malta, Europe and the US address juvenile delinquency. | en_GB |
