dc.description.abstract | This dissertation treats the process required in the preparation of the musical pieces for my final recital. It consists of six different sets of works, with a variety of percussion performance practices; one blues oriented piece featuring the vibraphone as a solo instrument; a snare drum solo piece, consisting of three different movements, each creating different rhythmic melodies; a multiple percussion piece, which presents a combination of highly technical material and a more melodic attitude towards untuned percussion; another piece featuring an interesting combination of a vibraphone and a drum-‐kit set-‐up played by a single player simultaneously; a solo timpani piece with an electronic backing track; and Duetting, comprising a piano and percussion duet through which the percussion is presented as a ‘talking’ instrument. | en_GB |
