Abstract: | News about Europe's first Green capitals did not get as much coverage as it deserved. Stockholm and Hamburg have been designated as the European Green Capitals for 2010 and 2011, respectively, in recognition of their consistent records of high environmental standards and strong commitment to further improvement. Out of 35 applicants across Europe, eight strong candidates were shortlisted: Amsterdam, Bristol, Copenhagen, Freiburg, Hamburg, Münster, Oslo and Stockholm. Applications for the 2012 title will open in September 2009. Shouldn't Malta harbour some aspirations in this sense? |
