Abstract: | Il-qofol tal-festi religjuzi kien jintlahaq fi zmien l-Ghid il-Kbir, li kellu marbutin mieghu ghadd ta’ drawwiet kulinari li kienu jibdew mill-Karnival, ikomplu bis-sawm tar-Randan, u jispiccaw fic-celebrazzjoni tal-qawmien mill-mewt fl-Ghid il-Kbir. Qabel, is-sawm kien iktar strett mil-lum fejn in-nies ta’ dari kienu jiehdu hobz u ilma. Min-naha l-ohra, astinenza tfisser li m’ghandux jittiekel laham. Il-poplu Malti kien isum fil-granet kollha tar-Randan minbarra l-Hdud u l-Festi Kmandati. Fir-Randan kien hemm id-drawwa li ma jsirx tisjir. Id-drawwa li ma jittikilx laham kull nhar ta’ Gimgha, hawn min izommha mhux biss fi zmien ir-Randan, imma matul is-sena kollha. Ikel iehor marbut mar-Randan kien forom ta’ frott maghmulin mill-pastarjali, karamelli maghmula mill-gulepp tal-harrub, hbejziet zghar b’salib fuqhom fost ohrajn. Jitqassmu wkoll il-qaghaq tal-appostli f’Hamis ix-Xirka. |
