Abstract: | Camilleri gives a historical insight about the painting of Our Lady of Philermos which once stood framed in St. John’s Co-Cathedral, Valletta. Upon the advent of the French invasion of Malta and the subsequent expulsion of Grand Master Ferdinando de Hompesch, the painting was taken and presented to Paul I, Emperor of Russia. |
