Abstract: | The demand for plastic surgery procedures with or without the use of implants or soft tissue fillers has increased dramatically over the years. In 2017, 17.5 million cosmetic surgical procedures were performed in the US; 1.8 million were cosmetic surgical procedures, while 15.7 million were minimally invasive procedures. The most common surgical procedures were breast augmentation, liposuction, rhinoplasty, eyelid surgery and tummy tucks; the most common minimally invasive procedures included Botulinum Toxin Type A (Botox) injection, soft tissue fillers, chemical peel, laser hair removal and microdermabrasion. Although there are no available statistics for Malta, the demand for such procedures has grown locally as well. |
