Abstract: | The purpose of this qualitative study is to explore the everyday life of Gozitan University students that reside in Malta. Primarily, this study defines the Gozitan youth from a sociological analysis. Seven young adults volunteered to be part of my research in which they spoke about their day-to-day experience and their personal thoughts and feelings. This study aims at giving better explanation of the position of Gozitan youth who decide to reside in Malta to continue their tertiary education. The collection of data was gathered through in-depth semi-structured interviews which were conducted between February and March 2018. Later the interviews where analysed using thematic analysis which was eventually divided into three main themes. The chosen themes explore the experience of Gozitans living alone and independently in Malta, the difficulties they encounter and finally whether Gozitan students would still live in Malta if there is to be a fixed link. Each of these themes has several suggestions which can help to prove the service of commuting between the islands. A number of recommendations provided by the interviews were suggested to accommodate the experience of Gozitan students and help them from excessive travel times each day. These aspects all contribute in allowing the researcher to explore main aims and objectives of this study. |
