Abstract: | Debono discusses the naval schemes and strategies that the Order of St. John toyed with as a result of the threat of piracy from Barbary corsairs in the Mediterranean Sea. Financial details of the devised plans are included, however, it appears that, ultimately, the projected schemes did not materialise. |
