Abstract: | Cassar researches about the working environment of school teachers in 19th-century Malta. His research also touches upon other aspects of teaching such as teachers' training, students, student insubordination as well as leaves of absence and holidays that teachers enjoyed at the time. He states that the inception of the Malta Union of Teachers in 1919 promoted a healthier working environment for teachers. |
