Abstract: This report covers a three-year period, 1979-1981, during which a total of 25,613 birds was ringed. This represents a decrease of 8,837 birds when compared to the previous three-year period (1976-1978). The decrease is mainly due to the fact that several ringers were actively engaged on the Ghadira project from mid-1980. Thus the ringing activity of some of the most active ringers was greatly reduced. The relatively poor migration of autumn 1979 and, in particular, of both spring and autumn of 1980 also contributed to this decrease. By the end of 1981 the grand total of birds ringed stood at 114,706 of 143 species.
