Abstract: Through this study I will strive to identify practices that can be adopted in the English language class in order to provide opportunities for pupils to use English as a Second Language (L2). The reason I chose to study children attending a state school is because during my teaching practice experience, I noticed that the children in the classes I taught and which I had the opportunity to observe were given few opportunities to practise speaking in the L2 in the classroom. The aim of this study is to develop, implement and evaluate a Resource Pack of five English Oracy Lessons for a Year 5 class. The resource pack consists of lessons with corresponding resources to encourage oracy in the L2. The five lessons were implemented in a Year 5 class. An evaluation of the pack was based upon the feedback received from the participating teacher and the pupils. The feedback received was positive and continued to highlight the beneficial aspects of Oracy during L2 lessons. The pupils were always engaged, they enjoyed all the activities and they spoke in English in front of their peers and worked in groups.
