The term transgender is defined as an individual whose gender identity is incongruent with their biological sex (Gainor, 2000). This research is focused on the transition period of a transgender individual and the professional assistance available during this process. Expert, semi-structured interviews were conducted with professionals from different backgrounds and the data was analysed using thematic analysis. The analysis of data identified the spectrum of emotions that a transgender individual experiences before and during the transition process, as well as highlightied the role that professionals play in this sensitive period within the transgender person‟s life. This study found that the professionals approached, assist the transgender individual in various spheres of life. They also provide a safe space for the transgender individual to grow into their better self. The research participants concluded that the transition process is very sensitive and is experienced differently by every transgender individual.en_GB
